“You Gonna Get A Super Bowl Out Of Me, Believe That”

I’ve been a big advocate against picking Lamar Jackson in the draft. And it’s clear that by the Ravens trading back twice, and selecting Hayden Hurst at pick 25, that they didn’t go into Thursday with complete conviction that they needed to come away with Jackson. I guess the way the chips fell, and the fact that he was still available at a good asking price, they pulled the trigger.

I don’t know exactly how to feel about it. I guess I was in the minority in thinking that if you for once put a respectable team around Joe that he could get back to upper level QB form. But at the end of the day, drafting a QB will be cheaper than paying Joe after this year, so if Jackson is any good, it will make the team better.

But I HATE what he said on the podium. History has shown us that it’s never a good idea to make championship predictions in any sport. All it sets you up to do is be the joke of the internet when it doesn’t happen.

But obviously I hope he’s right. And I don’t have a problem with the kid whatsoever, and he’s obviously insanely talented, I just hope his talent translates to the NFL. We’ll get to see one more year of Flacco, and then it’ll be up to Lamar to take the keys after that, hopefully to the promised land.
