Woman Sets Her Roommate On Fire For Throwing Away Her Spaghetti & Meatballs

Around 2:30 a.m Wednesday morning, 33-year-old Melissa Sellers and 42-year-old Carlos Ortiz Jr. got into an argument in their Clearwater, Florida home. They both had been drinking and their fight was centered around Ortiz throwing out Sellers’ delicious spaghetti and meatballs, so you know that shit escalated quickly. Here’s what Ortiz’s friend and witness Ines Causevic told Bay News 9.

“She was setting little objects on fire, then that turned into pouring nail polish remover all over him, and then all of a sudden, the lighter sparked and he lit on fire,” said Causevic. Causevic said she threw water on Ortiz and tore his shirt off, trying to put out the fire. “When he got up, his face was like melting off, it was pink and sore,” said Causevic. “His lips were burning.”

Ortiz was taken to a hospital, and he’s in critical condition due to burns on his face, chest, and shoulders. Sellers has been arrested and charged with aggravated battery.

That was an absolutely deplorable act by Sellers, and I hope that Ortiz is able to pull through. Act like an adult for once, Sellers. Refuse to take out the trash, give him the silent treatment, and tape a line down the middle of the house to separate each person’s sides. That’s how mature, functioning members of society deal with roommate probz. They don’t treat someone’s face like a Hibachi. Having said that, what the hell were you thinking throwing away her spaghetti and meatballs, Ortiz? It’s not like she had some bullshit like eggplant parm. We’re talking about spaghetti and meatballs, here. That’s a first ballot Hall of Fame Italian dish. I don’t care if it’s taking up all the space in the fridge and has been there for weeks, you gotta leave that stuff alone. The punishment clearly didn’t fit the crime, but sometimes logic gets thrown out the window when you’re dealing with the seductive temptress that is spaghetti and meatballs.
