Week 13 NFL Picks: Turkey Coma and Jimmy Johnson

Sports and Bets — November 30, 2014 at 10:55 am by

It’s been a long weekend and a long betting season.  The turkey has run down your gullet and done its work and maybe the man has a hand in your wallet.  Maybe your ass is tired.  Tired of the betting grind.  Hell, folks are so tired around here that even The Chode abstained from throwing down some picks.  (Though there are rumors circulating that he had an unfortunate incident with a wishbone, a bowl of gravy, and two Maryland co-eds who stayed on campus during Thanksgiving break. We hope he makes a full recovery.) But that’s what this time of year can do to a man.  It can make him lazy- in football and in everyday life.  So we found this motivational speech from Jimmy Johnson.  Get out of that turkey coma. Don’t be fatigued- you gambling coward….

The Chode (Season 10-13)

No picks this week.  May or may not have a wishbone stuck in his ass.

Babes (Season 18-16-1)

Another perfect week for me at 2-0 last week. It’s time to press, as this slate is tough, but beatable.
I’m taking the under 58 points in the Pats/Packers game this week. Eight touchdowns would not get this over the total, and with two teams of this caliber clashing, I’m expecting at least some defense to be played. The Pats especially have been ridiculous on defense this past month. I’m expecting a 27-24 game, so I’ll go under the total.
I’m also rolling with the Chiefs at home on Sunday night against Denver. Right now KC is getting 1.5 points. The Chiefs will redeem themselves at home after an embarrassing loss to Oakland. The Broncos are a meager 2-3 on the road this season, with their only wins coming against the Jets and Raiders- who are a combined 3-19 this year. Here’s another interesting fact; teams coming off close victories of 1-3 points in high scoring games where there were very few punts, are 10-42 ATS the following week since 1989. Denver falls exactly in that category after their 39-36 win over Miami last week. Throw in how well Andy Reid is with extra time to prepare, and I’m all over the Chiefs in this one.

Seabass (Season (13-22)

If anybody needs that speech from Johnson it’s me. Backed into a corner there’s no better time than now to get the ball rolling.  Looking for a sweep this week.   Here we go:

Rams (-6) vs Raiders-  The Rams are playing pretty good football these days, especially on the defensive side of the football.  They will be looking to smoke a Raider team coming off of their first win.  The party won’t last in St. Lou.  I’ll lay the six.

Steelers (-3.5) vs Saints-  The Saints just aren’t very good and Pittsburgh is at home and coming off of a bye.  I hate rooting for the Steelers, but if they lose I’m okay with it and if they cover I win cash.  The only bad scenario is if Pittsburgh wins and doesn’t cover.  That’s a shoot the TV situation, babes.
