Watch The Birds’ 10 Walk-Off Wins To Get Jacked Up For Tomorrow

There’s no better way to get fired up for tomorrow than by watching some dramatic Oriole finishes. The O’s had 10 walk-off wins this season, and I’ve done my best to rank them using highly scientific metrics. I used the importance of the win, quality of the game-winning hit, and the reactions from Gary Thorne, the players, and the fans to come up with the order. Hopefully, I’ll have to redo this post in a month after the Birds walk-off several times en route to their fourth World Series win. Plenty of magic left in these bats, babes.

10. 6/25 vs. Chicago White Sox – David Lough scores in the 12th inning on a wild pitch.

9. 4/26 vs. Kansas City Royals – Nick Markakis singles down the left field line in the 10th inning.

8. 4/12 vs. Toronto Blue Jays – Lough lines a single into left in the 12th inning.

7. 5/1 vs. Pittsburgh Pirates – Matt Wieters hits a solo homer down the right field line in the 10th.

6. 5/10 vs. Houston Astros – Steve Clevenger rips a double down the right field line in the 10th.

5. 7/11 vs. New York Yankees – Nick Hundley lines a single up the middle in the 10th inning.

4. 7/29 vs. Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim – Manny Machado hits his first career walk-off homer in the 12th.

3. 9/12 vs. Yankees – Down 1-0 with the bases loaded and two outs, Jimmy Paredes smokes a pinch-hit double down the right field line in the 11th.

2. 6/23 vs. White Sox – Down 4-3 with two on and one out, Chris Davis launches a pinch-hit three-run homer in the 9th inning.

1. 9/14 vs. Yankees – In a 2-2 ball game with a man on second and one out, Kelly Johnson ropes a double into right center in the 9th.

Despite Thorne not making the call, I felt that this was definitely the best walk-off win of the season. It took place on Sunday Night Baseball during Derek Jeter’s last game in Camden Yards, and you could feel the electricity in that ballpark. It was pure pandemonium from fans and players alike when Johnson came through to defeat the hated Yankees.
