Warning: Use Caution If You Decide To Roll Down Your Window In Baltimore

News — December 16, 2014 at 11:48 am by

Update: We were sent this story by the alleged victim. He said he simply wanted to share what had happened to him and make folks aware of what can happen when you let your guard down.  I decided to share his story after a few messages were exchanged with the source.  That is all.  After reading some of the comments from some  readers we asked the source for some proof that the incident occurred.  He has not yet given us anything, so I am posting this message. The blog was never intended to be a report on an assault.  It was more a comment on a violent situation that a guy had allegedly experienced.  That is why I included the line ” you decide” in the article.  So do just that.  We will keep you updated as the story, or hoax, develops.

It sucks, and I’m sure it’s not just in Baltimore, but you need to be cautious with everything you do. Most people you cross on the street do not pose a threat, but there is no denying that there are some bad seeds, indeed. When somebody asks for spare change, it’s our choice what we decide to do. Unfortunately, bullshit like this goes down for no damn good reason…

For the record, I respect somebody hustling for a buck, but not everybody wants a window washing. Steven Anderson, a Baltimore native, found himself in this position. A guy approached him at a light in West Baltimore, and Steve wasn’t looking for a window wash. Though he admits a lack of judgment, Steve obliged to the guy’s request to lower the window. After declining to hand over some loot, the guy allegedly grabbed him by his jacket and proceeded to slice him up.

The original message I received from Steve, you decide:

I was attacked by a guy after refusing to give him money. He tried to cut my throat but I put head down and he cut my cheek about 10 times. While in the hospital a nurse told me there has been 10 cases of this in the area in the past 10 months. Most attacks were with dirty needles. As a result 2 cases ended up with Hepatitis C and HIV. My blood work came back clean today. Please post this so we can make Baltimore aware. DO NOT ROLL DOWN YOUR WINDOWS EVEN TO HELP ANYONE.

  1. That is pretty much awful.

  2. “Bad seeds”?? I’m pretty certain we can qualify Baltimore as a really shitty crop at this point.

    • Speak for your own. Not EVERYONE in Baltimore is shitty, as you say.
But anyone who judges ALL of anything is limited soooo……..

      • No..overall this place is a dump. Sorry. I’m well traveled. This place takes the cake.

      • No..overall this place is a dump. Sorry. I’m well traveled. This place takes the cake.

        • You can’t name 10 neighborhoods here. Well traveled my ass!

          • Born and raised. Moved my business out of the city. Why? It’s a dump, plain and simple. You mad bro?

          • I also live outside of the city now because of some issues there with crime but overall, Baltimore is great with a proud history and a ton of racially diverse neighborhoods.

          • Baltimore was a great and proud city, Lived here for 33 years and had most of my family live here until they passed. But those days are behind us now. Now it is a city full of corrupt politicians and a majority of residents that could care less about the city. The city has been labeled as the heroin capitol of the U.S. The city is far from dead but its going to take a lot more then just talking to the kids and letting them vent.

          • Baltimore is not a nice place. Sure, you have some nice neighborhoods here and there such as Roland Park and Homeland but it seems as if no matter where you live in Baltimore, you’re always a hop, skip and a jump away from the ghetto. I know most parts of Baltimore like the back of my hand since I’ve been a firefighter there for 10 years. I’ve seen everything this town has to offer and you’d have to be out of your damn mind if you think raising a kid in Baltimore is a good idea. I don’t even like taking my wife downtown for dinner. I’ve seen too much stuff in this town and I’m scared for life.

          • I have to agree and I LOVE Baltimore. I lived on McElderry and Lakewood for years and loved nothing more than summer evenings sitting outside. Every night an impromptu block party. However, when I had my daughter I headed straight to Lutherville. As much as I loved the city there’s no denying the violence and drug use and shootings in the city. Of course, violence doesn’t end at city lines. My fiance and I were mugged in the county and he was beaten to death in front of me by white teenagers. My car has been robbed in my driveway once and two nights ago there were a half dozen gunshots from somewhere behind my house. Plus my neighbor led a high speed chase to her driveway and was tackled in my front yard a couple years ago. We live on a street across from Hampton Elementary a VERY nice area. Crime happens everywhere but that’s no reason to willingly raise my now 3 year old daughter in a neighborhood filled with it.

          • Obscenejesster I agree. I lived all around Baltimore for 40 years. Homeland, Owings Mills, Canton, Pikesville, etc, etc. It’s the PEOPLE…not the place that makes Baltimore trashy. Angry people with no pride in where they live. I finally had enough…moved to San Diego 4 years ago. A healthy, safe place to raise a family. I can’t stand whenever I have to go back and visit that drug infested toilet bowl. I’m just happy to leave there alive.

          • Must be some business you have that you have time to troll random people on the Internet on a website that covers a city you don’t live in anymore that you think is a dump, lol

          • It is. Allows me to do as I please. Don’t hate.

          • What part of Baltimore did you grow up in? I’m from Canton/Highlandtown.

          • I’ve lived in big cities in the southeast, new England and the pacific northwest and few had the racial tolerance and acceptance that Baltimore has. Sure we have problems but so do a ton of other places.

          • I’ve never seen so much more racism then I have in Baltimore. I love everyone, I’m not at all racist, but I’m stating fact. As a white guy riding the bus I’ve been the victim of and seen so many racist acts. Aside from fights, the worst was a middle aged black guy just straight up spit on this old white couple as he walked off and said “F You Crackers!” They didn’t do anything! Just a nice little old couple going downtown. I’ve had lots of things said to me while I’m just trying to get to work. I took the bus ONCE at night and never would again.

I do think there is definitely a lot of neighborhood love in Baltimore over most places, but there’s certainly not a lot of racial tolerance and acceptance.

          • So because other places have problems too, that somehow makes Baltimore not a dump?

          • Thugs in the city. “Oh it’s not me” STFU

          • Blacks always looking to blame someone else. Get up and go to work yo! I have no pitty! Yo’s made the city the way it is! Move in a place and total it, no respect for shit!

          • Blacks always looking to blame someone else. Get up and go to work yo! I have no pitty! Yo’s made the city the way it is! Move in a place and total it, no respect for shit!

          • Hampden, Fed Hill, Locust Point, Fells Point, Reservoir Hill, Marble Hill, Station North, Mt. Vernon, Bolton Hill, and Woodberry. I still think the place is a dump.

          • To each its own. I can only imagine why you feel that way.

          • Just seen the place go way down hill in the last 15 years that I’ve lived here.

          • Its all about where you live and what you contribute to make things better. I live in white marsh now and I work at a non profit mentoring and counseling troubled kids. Most of them just need someone to vent to. A sympathetic ear.

          • There’s a reason it’s called random violence. Currently I live in a Lutherville neighborhood and previously I lived on McElderry and Lakewood. The only issues I ever had living in the city were with the police constantly stopping me and searching me for drugs because if you’re white in the city you MUST be buying. In the county my fiance and I were mugged and he was beaten to death in front of me by three white men with baseball bats. Just a couple weeks ago our dogs went crazy and I looked put my window to see men circling my car with flashlights, this was not the first time this happened in our neighborhood. Two nights ago there were half a dozen gunshots from one of the houses directly behind us. It’s NOT about where you live and what you put into your area. Criminals are criminals. The amount if trees I plant at Hampton Elementary or food drives I organize isn’t a deterrent to these acts of violence.

          • I have lived in Locust Point, south Baltimore All of my life, and this area has never been a dump, and crime has rarely been an issue here. And, it hasn’t went down hill, it has been getting a lot better throughout the years and is one of the safest, nicest communities by far. If you ever visited here, you would see that it’s a great area and isn’t in the ghetto. So, don’t judge a book by its cover.

          • If we don’t get the druggies out, it will never get better. I am 54, born and raised, and I can tell you, it isn’t better now, it’s worse.

          • How can a place that was never bad get “alot” better?

          • I wasn’t even calling Locust Point a ghetto. The guy asked for 10 neighborhoods, and those were the ones I came up with off the top of my head.

          • lol you named all the city areas that arent so nice…im in baltimore county…just cuz the buildings arent pretty doesnt make bmore shitty lol its the people…every city has its hood spots

          • Man those neighborhoods that I mentioned ARE the nice ones. If you think those are the bad ones I’d be really curious to hear which ones you think are nice.

          • well get da f outta of here n dont come back then.

          • Why don’t you and people like you get DF out as you stated because ignorant thinking and clearly acting people like you are the problem. Let this have been a white person shooting a thief and you would have been all fed up then wouldn’t you have?

          • Baltimore sucks it’s filled with bums that always want money for the bus or to get something to eat because they haven’t ate in 6 years. Why defend a place that clearly sucks and why be made at someone else’s opinion.

          • Defend a place that “clearly” sucks so as to make it better.

          • there wasnt any mention of race and it was cutting. Stop feeding the “rascism”

          • yeah because running away is always a better solution to fixing the problem…

          • Exactly. I’d love to see things improve, and I get involved in my community to do my part. The thing is Baltimore really may be too far gone.

          • Whatever Richard. I love my city, and love it so much that I work for the city. That doesn’t change the fact that it is going in the wrong direction since I have lived here. If anyone wants to see it move back in the right direction it is me.

          • AMEN!!! baltimore is a ghetto violent city.. the night my brother got stabbed by mexicans and blacks i haven’t been there since!!! i refuse.. unless i go to the inner harbor cuz it isn’t full of ghetto people! and ill go for a bit not for a long period of time.. i never go to the outter areas cuz i’m afraid of getting shot or stabbed.. especially being a lil white girl.. js

          • My fiance was murdered in front of me by white boys in the county. Crime and violence doesn’t end at the city lines.

          • I can lol how the hell did I end up finding you on with random ass page

        • It’s not that all of Baltimore is a shithole. It’s just that the 98% of it that is gives the rest of the city a bad name. I’ve lived in Maryland all my life and the city has only gotten worse. Oh wait, Baltimore now has an aquarium, a science center, and two sports stadiums downtown in the tiny Green Zone where it is still relatively safe in the daytime. That makes everything better (sarcasm).

A lot of people don’t realize that the city is so bankrupt, corrupt, and mismanaged that two-thirds of its operating budget is paid for out of state grants. That’s right folks, the city can’t even afford to pay for *half* of its own operating costs. It’s like one big welfare parasite living off the labor of the working people in the 23 counties. I cannot wait for our house to sell so we can move to southern PA and stop being taxed through the nose to pay for the “entitlement” programs of the corrupt democrats in this state.

          • I agree totally!! I was born and raised in and around the city and worked for BGE in the city. There are some nice neighborhoods but they are few and far between surrounded by welfare ghettos. and the people in those nice neighborhoods are nothing but enablers for a corrupt liberal city government that wastes and steals taxpayer money. I packed up my family almost ten years ago and moved to South Carolina and never looked back. I pay less than half of the taxes and fees as I did there and live a better standard of living. here if you’re assaulted you have the right to defend yourself with deadly force if necessary which results in a much lower crime rate

        • Can you share some spots that are good. I am thinking about relocating and I am not very well traveled.

      • Where did Greg say everyone? Oh that’s right, nowhere…

        • We love our city! Too bad you know nothing.

        • “I’m pretty certain we can qualify Baltimore as a really shitty crop at this point”

      • Typical LIBERAL. You’re responding to something he DIDN’T say. He never said EVERYONE. Baltimore is the 41st most dangerous city in the WORLD. Not country but in the entire WORLD:

        http://www.businessinsider.com/the-most-violent-cities-in-the-world-2013-11#41-baltimore-united-states-had-3503-homicides-per-100000-residents-10

        • LIBERAL? You don’t know me, so take your snobby attitude elsewhere. As for what he DIDN’T say: AND I QUOTE: ” I’m pretty certain we can qualify Baltimore as a really shitty crop at this point”
          Crops of WHAT?
Do yourself a favor and stay TF away when you see my name.

          • YOU: LIBERAL? You don’t know me, so take your snobby attitude elsewhere.
            ==========
ME: It’s called “Intuitive Reasoning”. EXAMPLE: A giraffe has a long _____? Intuitive Reasoning response: Neck. A giraffe has a long neck. LIBERALS response: flight home to Kenya. A giraffe has a long flight home to Kenya.

As for what he DIDN’T say: AND I QUOTE: ” I’m pretty certain we can qualify Baltimore as a really shitty crop at this point”
            ==========
That’s exactly what he said and NO WHERE did he say “EVERYBODY”, which you claimed he did.

            Crops of WHAT?
            =====
You would have to ask him but it seems to me it wasn’t very flattering, but he didn’t say EVERYBODY

I responded to both of your questions. Now, kindly respond to mine. If Baltimore isn’t the “Drug Infested Hell-Hole” I know it is because I live there, then how do you explain Baltimore being the 41st most dangerous city in the WORLD?

          • Baltimore is a drug infested hole but I don’t think being liberal has anything to do with it,, my hometown in nc was a great place to live,, thriving ,, until a bunch of jackasses named Bain capitol bought up the manufacturing and closed them outsourced the jobs to china now meth is pretty much taken over ,, there were no jobs ,, so young people turned to selling drugs to get by , then using,, ever hear of Bain Capitol and Mitt they are not liberals they are Reps

          • obama appointed a Bain Capital Executive as his top economic consultant in 2013:

            http://dailycaller.com/2013/09/13/obama-picks-bain-executive-as-top-economic-advisor/

          • Of course being a liberal has something to do with it !! It’s liberal policies and thought that allow or excuse criminal behavior!! Show me a liberal dominated city that isn’t a shithole. Baltimore has been dominated by nothing but liberals for 40 or more years and look where you are. Move to opportunity was a Liberal plan to move welfare queens into nice neighborhoods to somehow reform them into productive citizens and the only thing it did was drag down those nice neighborhoods a drive out the good people to the counties and then the state and most of the central Maryland counties followed suit which is the reason that many have left the state for Pa. or in my case SC. which has a LARGE population of MDers around the Myrtle beach area.

          • I’m sorry, there is much to read on this, what was the topic again… Don’t ‘SCROLL’ down your computer window on a dangerous topic or something like that. lol. I was born and raised near that intersection. Joined and retired from the USN. Still working for DoD. I travel to several cities and the urban plight/flight of B-more is common. what is unique is the successful resurgence first sparked by the inner harbor project of the late 70’s (which every other coastal urban city copied) & that continued with the Camden yards M&T placement, and then they made sure easy access with successful highway/transportation upgrades and stick the unique coexisting subcultures that feed the urban re-introduction of Harbor east, Fells Point, etc. a melting pot that only a city like NYC can boast on. Problems yes. But 5.0 ensures a heavy presence where the $$’s exist. A more likely scenario: My folks tell me that an entirely different thing happened around the corner… because street hustlers do not want harassment from the negativity from something that comes from this. A questionable purchase or words went bad. Either way I’m praying for a full recovery.

          • *yawn*
I stopped caring. Take off your eBoxing gloves…reserve your energy for someone who cares. I’m fine….

          • OK. Sorry

        • From the latest FBI statistics, Baltimore got ranked 5th in murder rates in the US this year and 7th in violent crimes.

    • Speak for your own. Not EVERYONE in Baltimore is shitty, as you say.
But anyone who judges ALL of anything is limited soooo……..

    • Not completely accurate. I’m a Baltimorean and I love my city and the other responsible people who live here.

      • Baltimore is seriously one of the dirtiest most crime ridden cities on the planet. Period. Consistently rated one of the most violent, unclean cities in America. Is and always will be a shithole.

        • Lol…I live here… I’m in the city 24/7 and I love it..I keep everything I do 100, I have common sense and I’m not a little bitch so it doesn’t bother me…I’ve had the rachet pulled on me a couple times because someone must have been desperate and made a bad decision…but thats in every city everywhere…the poor are targeted for many things in many aspects and that contributes a largee factor to the situation…recognize reality for what it really is and not the day dream most people live…come on through for a second and your eyes will open…problem is a lot bigger than what most think…I’m white and I have a place to put my head at night so don’t go that route again lol

    • Do you live there?

  3. Makes me want to carry and shoot first then ask questions

  4. It’s Baltimore. I’ll give a dollar to the kids on President washing windows in the summer, they could be out doing a lot worse, or that guy that has prosthetics on both arms and both legs… but that’s about it.

  13. To whom does the photo credit go to? Where does this Steve live? On what block of what street on the west side did this happen? At what hospital was he treated? What was the name of the officer who responded to this? What is the name of the nurse who told him about the other incidents?

Or, does the journalist “ck” just expect us to believe that there is a serial needler out there giving people AIDS over pocket change? lol, great reporting here.

    • Sources area needed. But I guess some people just believe whatever the news/internet tells them without a second thought

      • Pardon me for being very skeptical of a news article that includes the phrase “you decide” in the caption, lol

    • Steve is my friend, he took the picture himself. It happened at the corner of Hilton and Liberty.

      • crimebaltimore.com doesn’t have an assault there, or anywhere near there, that has been reported in the last year.

        • People quick to call someone else a liar based off lack of info online? I do work in the city a lot and they have the tendency to try and force little effort an get paid for it . And that right there has and does happen. My cousin got his tires slashed for it. Long way from a bad shave. But it happens.

          • No one is saying that it doesn’t happen, it’s the escalation. You want me to believe this happened, fine. Now you want me to believe that this has happened 10 times in the last 10 months… okay…. Oh and you also want me to believe that of those cases, in two of them they’ve gotten HIV and or Hep C, how would the nurse in a hospital know about not one, but two cases of the exact person they’ve treated contracting a disease that takes a few weeks to show up?

It doesn’t track logically, and typically if you’re going to make claims like that in mass distributed news, you attribute the quote to someone, otherwise an informed reader is going to say, “how do I know that’s true? Why have I not heard anything about this?”

          • Yeah, this was mentioned below, notwithstanding that Johns Hopkins is clear on the other side of town from Forest Park, and that there’s no mention of anything that this author is referring to about people contracting STDs, check out all those cited sources in that well written, professional article.

          • That story you linked to has nothing to do with this story.

          • As for the diseases, CDC does track because assaults are required to be reported. The nurse would know if their boss told them what came back, because the CDC then tells the hospital and the hospital also tracks it. As for a nurse telling the guy (patient), that is questionable, or at least their ethical behavior is questionable at least.

          • I recall a few years ago, coming up to Baltimore National Pike/North Rolling Road on my way to work, all corners of the intersection were filled with homeless folks who would walk right up to your car to ask for money. If you said no they would start yelling. If you looked away and had your window up, usually they walked on, but there were a few who would “Knock” (with a closed fist). I finally went another route.

        • really this is all you get from this message steve was right no one cares well ass this is his mother and I am the one that told him to put it out there so people know and will be careful not to find out where he lives really that is all you got well it did happen and yes there was a police report but you know what we don’t care if you believe or not it was just to help others and as his mother he is not a lier I am so glad the black ass hole didn’t get his neck and me and my son have lived in Baltimore all ours lives and will continue just because other people are asses doesn’t mean everyone is I love Baltimore but you still have to be careful so ass keep rolling down your window I am a true believer in what comes around goes around and to the rest of the people reading be safe merry xmas

          • “We have a police report but I don’t care if you don’t believe us.”

            LOL

          • If you are going to “quote” someone, RickyWilliamsBong05, make sure you “quote” them. Her statement was, and I “QUOTE”, “yes there was a police report but you know what we don’t care if you believe or not”

          • lol

    • I posted this on FB and got several “I call BS” comments too. Then after a long thread of posts a friend of mine says she works at Hopkins and said all staff were told to drive with their windows up and doors locked. Look up “Drivers assaulted near Johns Hopkins Hospital” and you’ll see a story on it.

Hilton & Liberty isn’t far from there.

      • Umm, Forest Park is on the complete other side of the city from Johns Hopkins Hospital

        • Hospital is, campus isn’t. So if it was happening near the campus then all of Johns Hopkins employees, campus and hospital, would get the same safety warnings. Forest Park area is like 8 blocks from where the other commenter that knows the guy said this incident happened.

          • The campus is in east baltimore as well no where near those cross streets

          • My mom works at the campus, it’s not in East Baltimore. I can’t even believe 5 other people don’t know Baltimore that well either. From that intersection you have Druid Hill, and the Zoo, Jones Falls Expressway, and then Johns Hopkins Campus right there. When you come into the city you take MLK up, turn north on Howard and it takes you straight into the campus. Do you even live there and know your city?
            Here’s a map for you.
            http://postimg.org/image/tpse8621n/

          • The story you posted is about the hospital, which is on the east side, the video even specifically mentions East Baltimore…

          • So you don’t think it can spread and because this incident happened more west it invalidates everything?

          • You should google “post hoc ergo propter hoc.”

          • It certainly calls the original account into question. THERE HAS BEEN NO REPORT ANYWHERE that indicates that 10 people had been slashed by blades or hypodermics, and/or contracted HIV or Hepatitis from this. The original AUTHOR can’t even reach the supposed victim for further clarification.

          • So you don’t think it can spread and because this incident happened more west it invalidates everything?

          • The story you posted is about the hospital, which is on the east side, the video even specifically mentions East Baltimore…

          • Cyntha I think you are the one who needs a lesson. THAT LESSON WOULD BE MANNERS. FYI Charles Villiage is considered North Baltimore City, Federal Hill is considered South Baltimore. Highlandtown is SE Baltimore, Pigtown is SW Baltimore I think you should take lessons on locations in a city you say you live in or stop embarrassing yourself with ridiculous post.

          • Manners? No one had been rude so what are you talking about?Um sir no you need to drive thru the city and notice where you’re at because if it’s says east whatever street I’m pretty sure it’s in the eastern part of town. … I guess greenmount isn’t east either.

          • lol, so what? The article is about the hospital, the video says “east Baltimore,” at what point can you just admit that you’re right about something that has nothing to do with what anyone else is talking about?

          • E 29th St does not necessarily mean it is east Baltimore that just means it is east of Charles Street Sweetie.

          • Are you joking? Where is it then? You should ask the post office where Charles Village is and then get back to me.

          • and just to go out of my way and show that I’m true to Baltimore. Some of my BEST and Cherished memories are finishing the night at some bar or dance club, then taking a cab by myself to Paradox Afterhours for some real Baltimore Club Music (K-Swift R.I.P.). Even having a cab driver once tell me “Are you sure you want to go there?” “Absolutely.” I’d get a lot of looks and stares and when I’d get to the dance circle I’d hear “Who’s this white boy!?” or “What’s this white boy think he’s gonna do!?” and then I’d go toe to toe with dancers and change the tune to “DAMN! Where the F did this white boy come from!?” and get the love that I know Baltimore has.

          • I would not call Charles Village East Baltimore and thats where the campus is

          • I would not call Charles Village East Baltimore and thats where the campus is

          • Um it is not in West Baltimore that’s for sure. So the neighborhoods surrounding Charles Village (Waverly, Coldstream, Remington, Barclay) which are considered East Baltimore isn’t east Baltimore either? So address that have East on their directional ( i.e E. 29th street which is in the middle of Charles Village) are not considered East? I think you need a geography lesson…

          • The warning from police comes after an email was put out by security at Johns Hopkins Hospital. Not the campus.

        • From far west (Walbrook) to far east ( Bel Air Road) is like a 20 min drive. Everything is close to each other.

        • $3.50 daily bus pass can have you anywhere you want to be from Hunt Valley to Glen Burnie. Riding cross town is nothing.

      • Hilton and liberty is NO WHERE NEAR Johns Hopkins Hospital. .. that cross street is in west baltimore and Hopkins is in East.

        • Hopkins is all over the city, sweetie. The Bayview Campus is in the East, near Greektown, the main hospital is in midtown, & the University is in Waverly.

          • And your attitude is productive in what way sweetie?

          • He was talking about the university’s main campus which is in Charles Village.

          • The warning from police comes after an email was put out by security at Johns Hopkins Hospital “A STRONG WARNING FOR PEOPLE NEARING THE JOHNS HOPKINS EAST BALTIMORE CAMPUS. THIS AFTER A SECURITY WARNING THAT THERE HAVE BEEN RECENT REPORTS OF GROUPS OF JUVENILES CONVERGING ON THE VEHICLES AND VANDALIZING THOSE VEHICLES” This article is about the HOSPITAL, it pertains to JUVENILES and VANDALISM. A FAR CRY from what is described as happening to Steven Anderson.

The video SPECIFICALLY SAYS Johns Hopkins Hospital in East Baltimore SEVERAL times. It also implies the crime they are talking about is robbery by young men in their 20s at most, NOT some old homeless guy washing windows. Window washers are not even MENTIONED in the story.

      • That is NOTHING like this.
        (from the link: http://www.wbaltv.com/news/drivers-assaulted-near-johns-hopkins-hospital/25719530)
“We are encouraging the public when driving to keep their windows up to a degree so people can’t have access to their cars and that their car doors are locked,” Sgt. Sarah Connolly said.

The warning from police comes after an email was put out by security at Johns Hopkins Hospital saying there have been recent reports of groups of juveniles converging on vehicles and vandalizing those vehicles while stopped at traffic lights.

“Some drivers have been assaulted when doors were left unlocked and/or the windows were in the down position,” the email said.

Police confirmed the latest incident occurred near the 1000 block of East Madison Street, which is about four to five blocks away from the medical center.

This recent activity coincides with a number of robberies that occurred not too far away in east Baltimore, including one Monday night in the 200 block of North Collington Avenue.

Another one happened in front of a Russian Orthodox church in east Baltimore, where the priest’s son and a friend were beaten and robbed.

In all cases, the suspects are described as juveniles or early 20s.”

Noting at all about razors, hypodermics, Hepatitis, or HIV.

    • Ricky you are aggravating me too much as an ostrich to comment beyond this. Hove your head back in the sand or up your a$$ (wherever it was) and shut up, if you think downtown Baltimore is a utopia you seriously need to be on heavy meds.

      • lol, you are bad at reading apparently

        • no, I’m quite good at reading. Having lived in the Baltimore area all my life, I realize the warts and flaws of my area. Since you are apparently dialing it in sit down and shut up

          • lol

          • Nobody claimed Baltimore is safe, just that it is safe from hypodermic wielding “slashers” cutting throats and infecting drivers with HIV or Hepatitis after washing their car windows.
People need to be smart WHEREVER they are, but to point the finger at some nameless, faceless homeless serial slasher, without (as many as) NINE additional police reports/victims isn’t very responsible.

  14. 10 similar incidents and no one caught? Cops must be too busy killing unarmed children in another district.

  15. If people were getting HIV and Hepatitis C from attacks by people with dirty needles, we’d be hearing about it from more than this guy. That would be big news. The author says, ‘you decide’–well the message from the guy makes me decide to doubt the truthfulness of the first part of the story. It seems pretty likely he’s lying, so why would anyone believe any of it?

    • This happened to one of my friends on fb friends brother and that’s what brought it to my attention, so yes it’s a true story. Be very vigilant out there and don’t take nothing for granted and think it can’t or won’t happen to you. Be safe and Don’t roll down your windows for No body!

      • I don’t doubt that bad things have happened, I just doubt that there’s really a rash of people with infected needles slashing at drivers. That sounds too much like one of those silly e-mails hoaxes. And I don’t want to assume you don’t have any details, but a friend’s fb friend’s brother sounds pretty far removed. Of course people should be careful in general, but this story sounds pretty phony to me. Of course if you have details, or this Charm City Wire site wants to send some reporters to check it out, I’d be interested in hearing what people find out.

  17. So, fear-mongering has spread to the low-level “journalists” now too?

  18. I find this hard to believe. HIV doesn’t show up that fast and if this was reported to the police 1. They would find the guy and 2. Would put a stop to the window washers.

  19. YOU SHOULD HAVE GOT A TIR IRON AND WHIPPED HIS BLK ASS

  20. Do not roll down your windows even to help anyone?

Something wrong with that statement. Had the man not rolled his windows all the way down he would of been fine.

If you arn’t aware period, stay out of cities.

  21. Cut 10 times also 10 incidents in10 months hmmm.

  22. Could they be more creative

  23. This piece hasn’t really been investigated. Has it? Is Charm City Wire going to follow up, do some fact checking, and interview some nurses and cops? It seems phony.

  24. Wait “cut 10 times” ? I’m sorry but his face doesn’t look like its been slashed up ten times. Also how long ago did this happen? It would take months for Hepatitis and HIV to show in blood work? Too many holes in the story to believe it.

  25. this happen to me the other day guy stuck me with a needle, i could have ebola now. who knows… dang baltimore city.

  26. I would think being slashed 10 times, there would be lot of blood expecially on his clothes. I hope this story is a hoax. Why hasn’t this story been on the local news. Just asking.

  27. i worked exclusively in baltimores ghettos for over a decade and never once had a bad experience (i’m white). i always said 97% of the people in those neighborhoods are good and honest people, its the other 3% that ruin it for everyone else. i sold items to corner shops which serve as the community meeting point so i got a good variety of people in every single neighborhood in baltimore. i never had any racism directed towards me in baltimore but had it in DC and philly. as long as you’re nice to people and respect them as fellow human beings you will be fine (who would have guessed?). baltimore is a city of neighborhoods and will always be my favorite despite its problems

  28. 30 years just outside Baltimore… Its disgusting. Been all over the world and the closest comparison is Haiti…. With more crime.

  29. Something similar happened to me. I moved to Denver, but I was born and raised in Highlandtown. We went to look at my childhood home and I turned on the 400 block of N Curley St. A man approacched my car as if to speak to me and dumped an entire 7 Eleven big gulp cup filled with hs drink on my head. I was soaked, shocked and scared. He proceeded to crack up laughing. I, on the other hand, began to tear up. My childhood home turned into what looks like a war zone, and the people…..gosh, the people don’t seem to be civilized at all. I wouldnt walk through there day or night. Such a shame. Bulldoze that place and start over again.

  30. Steve should have backed up went back forward and ran his dumbass over I would have

  31. I think theres a lot of assumption in this article and made me sad to read “DO NOT ROLL YOUR WINDOWS DOWN EVEN TO HELP ANYONE” . I currently make 5 figures a year but didn’t always. As a matter of fact I have seen some pretty deep bottoms. If it werent for the compassion of those around me I would still be in those dark areas or worse even dead. Theres a phrase that i like to change a little…”but there for the grace of mankind go I”

  32. oh and another thing my dark days taught me is head and face cuts bleed ALOT. So your sayin you had your chin tucked down to protect your throat while he slashed your face 10 times. Amazing how no blood got on your collar.

  33. why in the crappity of all crap are all of you SOOOO focused on debating this article as fact or non-fact!!?? do you so-called “baltimore proud” not see the big picture??? its freaking baltimore city. this has probably happened dozens of times without even being reported! move out of waterfront canton and fells point into the inner city, then live there for a year to whitness the garbage of society that squirms around the slums and takes advantage of any opportunity they can to rape and murder their way into. you pricks think you can move into the afluent parts of the city and slap your righteous opinions across the internet like youre running for congress and anyone actually gives half a crap. move your dumbass narrowminded pride aside and open your eyes. stop supporting your home town just because its your hometown. our city is a dump, a disgrace, an embarrassment, and a refuge for the puke that humanity has excreted. its one of the most dangerous cities in the world. a freaking transvestite was murdered on my grandparents front lawn 20 years ago. thats about as extreme as it gets. yaaaaay natty boh and yaaaaaay hometown sports, and yaaaaaaay north-eastern wanna-be boston bar scenes. baltimore blows. who cares if this article is fake or not. get over yourselves. enjoy being the 1 out of 12 residents of baltimore city who becomes the victim of a violent crime every year. go bmore!

  34. rick he is also a friend of mine and this really did happen to him he has no reason to lie ok

  35. He had his cheek cut 10 times and this is all the blood you see? Someone
can cut you 10 times on your face and you don’t hit the gas to pull off? Really?
    10 cuts, 10 cases in 10 months. O’ Yeah I believe this-Not!

  36. People are ridiculous, instead of taking a warning with some appreciation, they sit there and criticize and question it to death, asking if it really happened…WHAT THE FUCK DO YOU THINK?? Is it really that hard to believe? Gangs are constantly coming up with sneaky ways to abduct, rob or kill people and some of these bums out here will do anything to get some money..so to the jackass that wants to sit there and question this story to death why don’t you decide for yourself if it’s real..go ahead and roll your window down!!

  37. the simple answer to this problem is a Maryland wear and carry permit.

  38. Pan handling should be banned across the nation. I pass by the same 2 people every day for work begging for money on the corner of North Point and Erdman and it’s to the point where they recognize me and stand abnormally close to my car and stare at me the entire duration of the light. Thankfully I keep myself armed and I doubt they’d do anything, point is this kind of shit is annoying. Some of us work nonstop all week for our money and these people think they can just rub some dirt on their face, hold up a sign and make it rain with a pity party.

  39. If you guys are so quick to say that what happened to Steve isn’t true or that you don’t believe it then let it go!! Why are you so pressed on what happened? Find something else to do with your time. Steve doesn’t care If you believe it or not. The point of him posting was to just get it out there.

  40. does not look like 10 slices across the face, cut but not 10 times. The one that looks big is just where the blood ran from a cut.Who ever did this is 100% wrong but don,t need to make the situation worse by adding to what really happen, but then again i think it is human nature like saying your starving when you are just hungry
    .

  42. Like people didn’t know Baltimore was full of wild animals in need of …. before this? Get out while you can property values going to nose dive when 300k illegals arrive in next few years. ..

  43. Why can’t this story be backed up with sources?

  44. I’ve had something similar happen to me when walking from the court house to M&T stadium. A guy followed me, proceeded to ask me for the time, then when I told him he said I needed to give him my phone or he would kill me right there after he pulled out a switch blade. I was lucky enough to not be trapped in a car and trained in such situations to defend and run. But still I truly don’t doubt this story one bit. Grimey ass people out there.

  45. This is terrible, Ive had guys approach my car trying to wash my windows and get mad when I shake me head no. One of them even kicked my car. I’m telling you the pan handling in

the City is getting so bad!!! If I didn’t have to come into the City I never would!

  46. this guy is only trying to warn other ppl and of course dumbass ppl want to kno when where who how…wtf. if u dont believe it than keep ur windows down n see what happens, why ppl always gotta question shit???!!! u ppl r so critical!!! much thx to u steve for warning us!!!

  47. i know exactly where this is, its at the light on presidents street on corner of Pratt….dude will wash youer window even if you say no

  48. I don’t know if I believe this. What makes me question the whole thing it is that he claims that a person attacked with a dirty needle came down with HIV. HIV is often spread by sharing dirty needles, but it’s because users pull their blood into the needle and then inject the drugs, so when they share, they’re also sharing blood. It also has to be introduced into a vein, into a muscle or into the fat under the skin. It seems highly unlikely that someone would contract HIV by simply being cut by an old needle, HIV dies outside the body fairly rapidly, so unless they injected something into the person, I don’t see how they could catch it from just the tip of a needle.

  49. Are there reports of th other 10 cases?

  50. Lol, just read some of th comments , you people are something…B-more be hard yo

  51. Simple, every time you have a car load of people roll by that location. You catch up with him eventually. When you do you call the police and let them know where you are and that you found him. Then you and your 3 friends proceed to stomp the shit out of him. Of course you were only “detaining” him while the police were on their way to make the arrest. I would have a car load of people and be rolling down there daily if this happened to me.
