Vanderbilt Coach Went Nuts, Yelled ‘I’ll F*cking Kill You’ At Own Player

Kevin Stallings later told ESPN:

I handled it completely inappropriately and I apologized to Wade — and I need to apologize to our fans and the Vanderbilt administration,” the longtime coach told ESPN. “Having said that, and it may seem as though I’m trying to rationalize my behavior, sportsmanship will continue to be a high priority. I did not mean it in the literal sense and I’ve never touched a player in all my years as a coach. That’s not me. I will learn from this and handle this situation differently in the future.

It’s nice that Stallings apologized and we all say things that we don’t mean during the heat of the moment, but Jesus, that was insane. Screaming “I’ll fucking kill you” at one of your own players is so uncalled for it’s unbelievable. I like sportsmanship as much as the next guy, but cool your jets a little, chief. Stallings made Bobby Knight look like Ned Flanders with that outburst. For what it’s worth, the player that he was yelling at, Wade Baldwin IV, didn’t seem to be bothered by Stallings’ behavior.
