USA Advances to the Round of 16

It wasn’t pretty, it wasn’t easy, but God dammit, we did it. The USA will advance to the knockout stage of the World Cup, despite losing today to Germany, 1-0. Germany won the loaded Group G with 7 points, but USA’s 4 points were good enough for 2nd place due to goal differential. Portugal also earned 4 points, but their goal differential was -3, while USA’s was 0. It may feel a little strange to celebrate after a loss, but living to play another day is all that matters. The World Cup is like March Madness right now, and you gotta advance by any means necessary. USA’s next game will be against the winner of Group H on Tuesday, July 1 at 4:00 PM. This will most likely be Belgium, although Algeria still has a chance of winning the group. 4 more wins would bring home the trophy. Why the fuck not us?
