Well, lets have at it.  It’s that time of the year again.  Football season will be over when our Ravens bring home the Lombardi trophy and there is a little break in seasons after til the beginning of Baseball.  So,it is time to get some insight to our prospective Kentucky Derby hopefuls.  There was a time when Horse Racing and Boxing were right up there with baseball as America’s favorite hobbies.

It is winter in Baltimore, but we can check out the Racing in Florida and California. These are the locales of the major preps for the Kentucky Derby. The sun shines perfectly there and the horses thrive at these meets. Hell, any living creature would thrive. So,  I will throw the thermostat up a notch or two and put my energy into these new three year olds.

The Holy Bull at Gulfstream Park is our first prep for the Derby eligible 3 year olds.  The race will be contested at a distance of 1 and 1/16 of a mile.  Although Shanghai Bobby is a well deserved favorite in here coming off of his perfect 5 for 5 record, but he may be a little too sharp for this race.  In other words he could be vulnerable from the #1 post.  I like two other charges in here:

#6 Dewey Square–Dale Romans has this horse all geared up for this one.  He is working well like a good horse should.

#7 Itsmylucky day–All of the experiments on the turf are probably over as he seems to get into the bit a little better when running on the dirt…….

So lets box the 1 -6-7  in the triple and exacta…

A few other nuggets from the early card

7th race—#7 Bold Challenger(we like a lot)    use him with 1 and 2

9th race—#4 Federal Agent     use him with 10,and 12

Well, that is it for today race fans…..Happy Hunting
