The Orioles Pitching Chris Tillman Every Fifth Day Is An Insult To Our Fanbase

There was once a time when you could make a strong case that Chris Tillman was the best starting pitcher in the AL East. But as we all know, those days are long gone.

I really like Chris Tillman, and I’ll forever be grateful for his time in Baltimore as an all star pitcher. He was never a true ace, but he was our ace, and with how good our lineup and bullpen were, that was good enough.

But whether it be injury or something else no one can explain or figure out, Chris Tillman is no longer a major league caliber starting pitcher. It’s unfortunate, but it is what it is.

I mean just look at these numbers.

But the fact that the Orioles are continuing to send him out to the mound as a regular part of their rotation is absolutely insulting. The sample size now is too large to hope he can bounce back. Fans invest a lot of time, energy, and money into this team, and the fact that Tillman continues to pitch with regularity is a slap in the face.

I feel bad for Tillman, and I have no ill will towards him. But this can’t keep happening. I don’t care if he goes out tonight and throws another 7 inning 1 hit performance. Because we’ve seen that those outings are nothing more than a fluke.

Tillman’s gotta go. I wasn’t against the O’s bringing him back on a team friendly deal with the hopes that he could regain form, but he clearly hasn’t and won’t ever, and the fact that a team with the worst record in the major leagues sends him out there is just a mockery of our fandom.

Ill remember Tillman for the good times even more so than the bad, but hopefully tonight is the final time we’ll see him a don an Orioles jersey.
