Jason La Canfora is reporting that Steve Smith is planning to play for the Ravens next season. He’s already scheduled Dr. Robert Anderson to perform surgery on his torn Achilles tendon on November 9th, so he can begin the recovery process as soon as possible. The 36-year-old is under contract for next season at $3 million, and the Ravens would obviously be thrilled to have him back.
This is great news, but it’s certainly not unexpected. Smith was having a monster season, catching 46 passes for 670 yards and three TDs in seven games, and you know damn well he didn’t want an injury to end his career. Smith wants to go out on his own terms, and he’s going to bust his ass to get back on that field. Here’s to a quick recovery and a Ray Lewis-esque last ride for Smitty in 2016!
