South Dakota Inexplicably Cancels Brilliant ‘Don’t Jerk And Drive’ Campaign

To promote safe driving during the treacherous winter months, South Dakota’s Highway Safety officials came up with an ingenious way to educate their motorists. Here are some ads from their hilarious and informative “Don’t Jerk And Drive” campaign.

Truer words have never been spoken than “Jerking Isn’t A Joke.” Lee Axdahl, director of the office of Highway Safety, knows that jerk is slang for masturbation. He used the double entendre purposefully because my main man Lee is an advertising guru who knows that sex sells. He said that, “The message is that we’d prefer drivers keep their cars out of the ditch and their minds out of the gutter.” Unfortunately for Lee, the people of South Dakota got all butthurt about the ads, so they’ve been pulled. Trevor Jones, the secretary of the Department of Public Safety, released a statement saying that, “I decided to pull the ad. This is an important safety message and I don’t want this innuendo to distract from our goal to save lives on the road.”

Here’s my response to Mr. Jones’ decision on the matter.

Lighten up, ya nerd.
