Some Ravens Are Out In Baltimore Planting Trees Today, And That’s Awesome

On Sunday, you are basking in a victory out in the Miami sun, and then it’s back to the grind come Monday. In the GamePlanEarth initiative, led by the Ravens, the team will take this week to help grow a more sustainable Baltimore through environmental practices. This is a big move by the Ravens, even if it is a temporary eye opener, the community will listen. Sure, it may seem like they are planting trees on a rundown street, but that seems like the absolute best place to start.

These are the plans set in place for today:

Monday, Dec. 8

  • Ravens S Terrence Brooks, TE Owen Daniels, RB Justin Forsett, G/C Gino Gradkowski, and T James Hurst will join Ravens staff and partner with Parks & People Foundation to plant trees and remove litter in the Sandtown-Winchester neighborhood of Baltimore.
  • Ravens T Eugene Monroe, QB Tyrod Taylor and K Justin Tucker will join Ravens staff for an environmental information session with Healthy Harbor, a Waterfront Partnership Initiative, whose goal is to create a cleaner, greener future for Baltimore’s streams and harbor. The first part of the session will include a discussion of the “State of Baltimore’s Harbor”. The group will then head outside to see how oysters are grown for the Healthy Harbor Oyster Partnership, and then walk over to the Inner Harbor Water Wheel, where inventor and operator John Kellett will be available to speak and answer questions.
  • The Ravens also announce the hashtag promotion #GamePlanEarth and encourage fans to, “Show us your #GamePlanEarth.” Fans can upload their photos using the hashtag #GamePlanEarth to illustrate how they are doing their part to be environmentally friendly. Following the Ravens vs. Jaguars game on Dec.14, lucky fans will be selected to win a Ravens GPE Prize Pack.
