Every once in awhile we get a positive story out of the NFL, and this is one of those. When Chris Kemoeatu’s NFL career came to a halt because he needed a kidney transplant, his brother, former Raven Ma’ake Kemoeatu stepped up to the plate.

He couldn’t play anymore, and I didn’t want to be in a position where he couldn’t play but I’d keep playing, as soon as my brother’s health was at risk I wanted to stop everything.” That in itself is such a badass statement, let alone the selflessness it takes to leave your NFL career to help a brother. The doctor who perform the surgery was quite impressed with Ma’ake’s kidney, “It was one-and-a-half times bigger than any other kidney I had ever seen in my life, it was absolutely remarkable.” The surgery went down on August 27th, and both brothers are well on their way to recovery.

Someone must be cutting onions…

“I’m the oldest of the seven kids, and it’s my responsibility to take care of my younger brothers and sisters, If my younger siblings need blood, it’ll be my blood. If they need a kidney, it’ll have to be my kidney.”
