Ravens Sign Matt Schaub

I guess as far as backup QBs go, you could do a lot worse than Matt Schaub. It’s better to be a has-been than a never-was, and the 33-year-old had some great years in Houston, making Pro Bowls in 2009 and 2012. Recently though, Schaub has really struggled. In 2013, he went 2-6 as a starter while throwing 10 TDs and 14 INTs. He even set an NFL record by throwing pick sixes in four consecutive games.

Last year, Schaub was beat out for the starting job in Oakland by rookie Derek Carr. Over the entire season, Schaub went only 5-10 for 57 yards, 0 TDs, and 2 INTs. Despite Schaub’s horrid play in recent years, I still have more confidence in a Ravens team quarterbacked by Schaub than Tyrod Taylor or Keith Wenning. It wouldn’t surprise me at all if the Ravens were able to squeeze some productive football out of Schaub. I just pray to God that we never have to find out.

That seems like a reasonable contract for both parties.
