Ravens Resign Offensive Lineman James Hurst To 4-Year Deal

The Ravens are tight on cap space, and with plenty of holes to fill, this move is somewhat surprising. Hurst is by no means a great offensive lineman, but he can play all positions on the line except center, so his versatility was clearly attractive for the Ravens to bring him back. He started all 16 games in 2017, 1 at left tackle, and 15 at left guard.

With the Ravens spending some unexpected money in a cap-tight year (which is every year), there’s obviously going to have to be some players cut, and maybe more than we originally thought. I would assume this move by no means takes the Ravens out of the running for a right tackle in the first round of the draft, although I’ve been saying all along I’d prefer the Ravens address the lack of positional talent on the roster early on, and address the line a little bit later in the draft. Ozzie has proven he can find line talent with later picks (Although he’s proven he can’t find skill position talent in early rounds).
