AS THE PITCHERS AND CATCHERS MAKE THEIR WAY TO SARASOTA, FL, THE TALK OF THE OFFSEASON HAS BEEN THE LACK OF ACTIVITY FOR YOUR BALTIMORE ORIOLES. WHY DIDN’T THE ORIOLES SIGN A BIG BAT? WHY DIDN’T THE ORIOLES RE-SIGN MARK REYNOLDS? WHY DIDN’T THE ORIOLES BRING IN JOSH HAMILTON? WHY DIDN’T THE ORIOLES GET ANOTHER ARM? WELL I AM GOING TO EXPLAIN WHY YOU SHOULD RELAX A LITTLE INSTEAD OF BITCHING ABOUT THE ORIOLES.

SURE, EVERYONE IS EXCITED THAT THE ORIOLES MADE IT TO THE ALDS LAST YEAR AND TOOK IT INTO GAME 5 VS. THE YANKS- BUT THAT WAS THE FIRST TIME IN 15 YEARS THAT THE ORIOLES MADE THE PLAYOFFS. CUT THEM A LITTLE SLACK, JACK! BALTIMORE FANS ARE SO ACCUSTOMED TO THE RAVENS MAKING THE PLAYOFFS AND BEING COMPETITVE EVERY YEAR THAT THEY EXPECT THE ORIOLES TO DO THE SAME THING. NO ONE THOUGHT THE O’S WERE GOING TO BE PLAYING IN OCTOBER IN 2012, SO ENJOY IT AND BE OPTIMISTIC. I AM STILL ENJOYING IT. I CAN’T WAIT FOR THE 2013 SEASON TO START.

UNLESS YOU HAVE BEEN LIVING ON ICE PLANET HOTH FOR THE LAST 15 YEARS, YOU SHOULD KNOW THAT THE ORIOLES DO NOT SPEND ANY MONEY. AND WHY SHOULD THEY? THE YANKEES SPENT OVER $116 MILLION MORE AND THEY SAW NEARLY THE SAME RESULT. IT’S NOT ABOUT MONEY, JACK. IT’S ABOUT PLAYING TOGETHER AS A TEAM. THE ORIOLES DISPLAYED AN INCREDIBLE AMOUNT OF TEAM CHEMISTRY LAST YEAR, WHICH IS THE MAIN REASON WHY BUCK AND DAN DUQUETTE DECIDED TO KEEP THE CLUBHOUSE BASICALLY THE SAME AND ADD A FEW PIECES HERE AND THERE.

MARK REYNOLDS AT 11 MILLION WASN’T HAPPENING. SURE HE WAS A BAD ASS ON THE CORNER THIS YEAR, BUT AT THE PLATE, HE REGRESSED IMMENSELY. HE WENT FROM CRUSHING 37 BOMBS TO ONLY GOING YARD 23 TIMES; AND IF YOU TAKE AWAY THE FEW GAMES AGAINST THE YANKEES WHEN HE WAS THE TERMINATOR, HE ONLY FINISHED WITH 16 HRS. SO WHERE DID THE ALL THE  OTHER HRS GO? HE ALSO STRUCK OUT AT CRUCIAL TIMES LAST YEAR WHEN RUNNERS WERE IN SCORING POSITION. SO THERE YOU HAVE IT SLICK. THAT IS WHY IS IN CLEVELAND.

mr

JOSH HAMILTON? THAT’S NOT THE ORIOLES WAY. HE STRUGGLES WITH BOOZE, HE’S A HEAD CASE. AND HE IS TOO MUCH MONEY. PITCHING? PLEASE. WE HAVE ONE OF THE BEST BULLPENS IN BASEBALL, AN ALL-STAR CLOSER, AND A BUNCH OF PROMISING YOUNG ARMS THAT CAN SPOT START OR FIND THEIR WAY IN THE ROTATION. WHO THOUGHT JASON HAMMEL WOULD BE THE ACE LAST YEAR? NOT ME.

SO GET OVER IT. THEY WILL COMPETE. THEY HIT 214 HOMERS LAST YEAR- WHICH WAS SECOND IN ALL OF BASEBALL. WHO GIVES A CRAP IF TORONTO SPENT 5 GILLION DOLLARS ON PLAYERS. TEAMS THAT BUY PLAYERS DON’T HAVE THE ONE THING THE ORIOLES DO HAVE- CHEMISTRY. IT WAS THE MAGIC FOR THEM LAST YEAR, AND FOR THE RAVENS THIS YEAR.
