O’s Offense Goes Crickets. Tillman Loses To Workman 1-0.

The Run Down

Chris Tillman has won a few games that he didn’t deserve to win this year, so I guess it was just a matter of time before he pitched well and lost.  Tillman worked his way around two rain delays and gave up only one earned run over six innings, but it was not good enough to get the win.  That’s because the Orioles’ offense couldn’t have hit a beach ball with a fungo last night if the beach ball had come from the right hand of Boston starter Brandon Workman.  Workman baffled the Birds for 6.2 innings.  Even when the O’s managed to get base runners they screwed it up, like when Nelson Cruz was on first base after a walk and then decided to run to second on a pop up.  (He thought there were two outs.)

That happened in the fifth inning, Cruz was the O’s first base runner.

This was a turn the page game.  Lose, take it like a man, and move on.

Other Game Notes

Manny Machado is appealing his five game suspension, so he played Tuesday night.  He went 0-4.

Steve Pearce and Ryan Flaherty were the only two O’s with hits, they each singled.

The Orioles struck out nine times.  Ugly.  Though ol’ Buck may have thought the K-Zone was a little large for the bad guys.

Next Up For the Birds

Wednesday night at the Yard:  The O’s/Sox Rubber match.

Rubby De La Rosa (1-1) vs Chen (6-2)

A guy named Rubby is in a rubber match.  Hahahaha.  Get it?  Do you get it?

Let’s Go O’s!
