“The Orioles have some interest in Chicago White Sox free-agent right-hander Gavin Floyd and have been monitoring his progress as he recovers from elbow surgery, according to industry sources.”

Gavin Floyd, who attended Mount St Joseph’s high school in Baltimore, has been rumored to possibly be coming to pitch for his hometown Orioles. This is nothing new, this rumor gets passed around at least once or twice an off-season. Here we go ahead. We have never landed Floyd before, but now that he’s fresh off surgery he sounds more and more like one of “our” guys.

Fans are clamoring for an Ace and so far we have signed Minor league left hander Kelvin De La Cruz. Not exactly the splash were hoping for. One thing Is certain though. I am sick of hearing we have interest in Gavin Floyd. This love hate relationship with the Orioles and Gavin has been going on pretty much the guys entire career.  In that career Floyd is 70-70 with a 4.48 ERA. Stats don’t lie. I love the hometown kid coming home story and what not, but signing Floyd won’t dramatically change the shape of the 2014 Orioles team. Floyd would become another back of the rotation starter in a system full of them. Sign him. Don’t sign him. I don’t give a damn.Just make a call and move on. Either way, let this be the last of the Gavin Floyd  Baltimore drama.
