Orioles Take Another from Rays

After a 3 game losing streak the Orioles are back in the win column for the second night in a row. Upset fans can now breathe easier and take a few steps back of the ledge.

When Chen starts for the Orioles I always feel like the O’s have a shot to win. Chen was only able to give the Birds 4 ⅔ innings, which is a little disappointing, but the team found a way to make that work and still come out on top.

Tampa scored a run in the first inning off of an Evan Longoria single, putting the O’s down early. The Orioles had runners on in the 1st and 2nd inning but couldn’t get them across the plate.  The O’s went 1-2-3 in the 3rd ,although Nick Markakis was sure he had a lead-off walk, and the umpires were confused enough to the point that they had to review it.

In the 4th inning with runners on 2nd and 3rd and 2 outs, Caleb Joseph delivered a huge 2 RBI single giving the good guys the lead. It seems that Caleb has been coming through for this team in the clutch in almost every game he plays in. The Rays then tied it in the 5th, and that was the end of Chen’s night.

The Orioles bullpen shut down the Rays offense and didn’t allow a run the rest of the evening. Jonathan Schoop and Nelson Cruz added an RBI each in the 6th and 7th inning and the Orioles held on to win 4-2. It’s never pretty when your starter doesn’t make it 5 innings, but you have to be able to win ugly sometimes.

Let’s keep this train rollin’ tonight.

Let’s Go O’s!
