Nicky Mark Is Money With Two Strikes, Birds Win 2-1

Nick Markakis has to be one of the best hitters in baseball with a two strike count.  I currently have no stats to back me up on this, but this dude just seems to get it done when he’s down in the count.  Tonight, in the bottom of the ninth, with two outs, a two strike count, and the base’s loaded, Markakis slapped a Aaron Loup pitch into left field.  Game over.  It ended the game, as well as a tough inning for Loup, who hit a batter, intentionally walked another, and then watched his infield commit an error on an Alexi Casilla ground ball.  This set the table for the left-handed Markakis, who delivered with this opposite field RBI.  Money baby, money.

Meanwhile, Chris Tillman pitched his ass off tonight.  6 2/3 innings, 3 strikeouts, 3 walks, 4 hits, 1 earned run.  It was easily his best start of the year.  If he can round into last year’s form, the rotation will look a lot better moving forward.  I am now real excited about his next start.

Manny Machado is already the best glove the Orioles have had at third base since Brooks.  He made another bare hand scoop and gun tonight.  He makes it look real, real easy.  The crazy thing is that he’s naturally a short-stop, he’s only been playing third for two years.

That’s right Chris Davis had the other RBI,  21 for the year.

Same time, same place tomorrow. Dickey (2-2) vs Gonzalez (1-1)

Get your ass to cold Camden Yards.  Where the hell did spring go?

Go O’s
