Maryland vs. WV Who?

Cupcake games or not, the Maryland Terrapins are sitting at 3-0 for the first time since 2001. As the Terps return home from a road win against Connecticut, they may be staring  their biggest game of the season right in the face.  The last three weeks, the guys that we’re excited about, like Stefon Diggs and C.J. Brown, have been impressive. Now, its time to see if MD has just been a bully picking on younger kids, or if they are ready to step up and rumble with the big boys. Maryland is set to square off with the West Virginia Mountaineers Saturday at 3:30 at M&T bank stadium, and they have their sickest Under Armour gear yet lined up and ready to wear to the prize-fight.

WVU, at 2-1, has only played one legitimate team this season as they fell to #16 Oklahoma on the road. The Mountaineers, who struggled in their opening game, did manage to keep things close with Oklahoma in a 16-7 loss. It’s early in the season and it’s really to early to tell who’s going to emerge as  a top team and who’s going to end up at the bottom of the barrel. While WVU isn’t expected to set the world on fire, they are a strong program year after year that now represents the Big 12. No cupcake this week for the Terrapins. That said, there is no doubt in my mind that the Terps are winning the “Border Battle” at the Bank on Saturday.

I love to look at Vegas lines, and no, it’s not because I like to gamble. Well maybe that’s part of the reason, but it’s more so the fact that the lines makers out there know what the hell they are doing.  If you don’t trust me then trust them. The professional lines makers have Maryland installed as a 5 ½ point favorite. Understanding that the game is being played in Baltimore, and that accounts for something, I still thought this was a misprint when I read it. It seems like The Chode isn’t the only one who thinks this MD team can make some noise in 2013. Since the Terps are the favorites Saturday we can’t call it an upset, but when the clock winds down to zero at M&T Bank stadium the University of Maryland is going to be on top by Two scores.  If that’s really the case, it will be enormous in terms of momentum, as they then head into ACC play. One at a time though Terps. Protect the house today, and send those Mountaineers crawling back to West Virginia
