Trumbo, O’s have agreement at 37.5M/3

Well done, Dan Duquette! The fact that Mark Trumbo was reportedly looking for a deal worth up to $80 million when free agency began, and ended up resigning with the Orioles for a contract total of less than half of that is insane. I mean, the guy led all of baseball in home runs last year. Sure he’s as big a defensive liability as Ryan Gosling in Remember The Titans, but he at least gives you versatility in the field, and can be the O’s full time DH now that Seth Smith can replace him in right field. And defense aside, the guy rakes. And the O’s got him barely north of arbitration numbers. Insane. Love the deal, and it’s small enough to where it shouldn’t compromise the likelihood that the Orioles can resign some of our core guys.
