Labor Day Is All About Gambling At The State Fair

It’s one of my favorite days of the year.  The State Fair is in full swing and it’s a Maryland tradition to take the ride to Timonium to spend Labor Day surrounded by cotton candy, fried dough, carnival rides, piles of money, and horse shit.  That’s right, forget the BBQ babes, we’re taking our asses to the track to witness a long time Maryland tradition, wagering on ponies to end the summer like gambling fools.  It’s a great atmosphere at the little Timonium Race Track.  It’s horse racing at it’s most intimate.  The horses are real close, everybody’s in a good mood, and you’re bound to see someone you know.   It’s good times babes.

The other great thing about Timonium is that Saratoga is still running as well.  So you get the best of both worlds, the small hometown fun track, and the big money main event beaming live over several beat up televisions.

But we’ll be writing about the home town. Let’s go get ’em

Race 1- #1 Morales- It’s hard to find value at Timonium.  This race is no exception.  This guy hasn’t race since May but he seems the best on paper.  If he runs the half in :44 and change like he did in his last he’ll crush this field.

Race 2- #1 Cashed Out- This 3-year-old miss seems more suited to the turf and is falling down the claiming ranks ladder, but she has flashed some speed in the past and that’s what we’re looking for in these 4 furlong affairs.  At 5-1 we’ll take a shot.

Race 3-#5 Sooner- They wheel him right back after a nice run here on the 26th.  Looks like they’ll try to go wire to wire again, lone speed winner?

Race 4-#3 Sing The Blues-  Speedball ships in from Delaware for what should be a score. Again-come and catch me.

Race 5-#4 Victory Sun-Colt has been training well leading up to this.  Longhot may have a chance against these.  Since we’re looking for value, we’ll take a stab.

Race 6- #1 Narbona Pass- Shipper posts superior speed figures and is in nice form coming off a muddy win at Parx.  We won’t try to beat him.

Race 7-  #4 Grace is a Beauty- Dove Houghton bring this protected maiden down to the fair.  Ran second to a miss who wheeled back and won her next.  Bullet work adds to an already nice resume.  No-brainer.

Race 8- #5 Joyous Music- Solid favorite has 10 lifetime wins.  She’s a pro.  We won’t mess with her.

Race 9- #1 Sonny Inspired- 10-1 shot has been working well and barn does well with these first time starters.  Trainer jockey combo is hitting at 50% with a $9.60 return on investment.  Too intriguing to pass up.  Hammer.

Have fun and play to win!
