It’s Time For You To Binge Watch “Silicon Valley”.

Through my high school and college days, I was never really a “TV series” or a “Holy shit, I can’t wait till next Thursday night to see who Bobby makes out with kind a guy. It was always school, work, sports, and drinking.  Quite frankly it could’ve stayed like that forever, minus the school and work part, but when I got hooked on a little-known show called “Breaking Bad”, I had a feeling that this would lead to plenty of nights on the couch doing absolutely nothing. And thanks to Netflix and the inter-web, well let’s just say I became useless for a while……a long while.

By the end of September of last year, I was terrified when the last episode of Breaking Bad faded to black. I literally had no idea what my Sunday nights were going to be like, the end of Heisenberg was leaving a void at the tail end of my weekend.  With the exception of the occasional non-shitty Sunday night football game, I was a purposeless babe in the deep dark woods. But then Johnny Depp saved me. One night I was catching the end of one of my favorite all-time movies, Blow, starring Mr. Depp, on HBO and I saw a trailer preview for a new show called Silicon Valley. Like any other dude who hears the word silicon, I stuck around and watched it.

This would be the part where I tell you that my Sunday nights did not suck anymore.

For anyone who appreciates dry humor, the Internet, sex jokes and just plain funny shit, Silicon Valley just might be your favorite new show. There’s a great variety of cast members;  from the nerd genius that started Pied Piper, to the stoner with no filter whatsoever that takes no shit from anyone, to the humor of the stereotypical Pakistani.  (Who’s last name is Chug-tai.)  And what computer group wouldn’t be complete without a smart ass Satanist, who also has quite the brain. Together, this group of computer-genius misfits forms Bro-Gamers and they  develop a music app called “Pied Piper” that becomes an instant hit with multi-million dollar investors. It’s an interesting premise that creates humor in places that you would never expect to find it. For example: algorithms. After realizing their own potential, and being screwed around by two different companies, the algorithms and solutions that they use to come up with a new plan is absolutely one of the funniest things ever put on TV. Again, you must have an open mind, and a low humor for dick jokes to appreciate this, but even if you don’t, you still may piss yourself laughing.

On a scale of 1-10 I would give it a 9 only because the episodes are just a half hour long. Other than that, it’s basically Entourage for geeks with a lot more humor. The first season is over with and the second is on the way, so get On Demand, or HBO GO, or just download it illegally and give it a shot. You will not be disappointed!
