I’ll Have Grand Salami With A Wild Pitch To Go, Babes. O’s Sucker Punch Sox Again To Take Series.

The White Sox have got to be some bitter dudes this morning.  Monday they got smacked by Chris Davis with a pinch hit, walk off bomb and last night Nelson Cruz delivered a shot to the groin with a two-out, eighth inning grand slam.  But Cruz’s incredibly clutch salami would only tie the game at four, the Birds would win the game, and the series, when O’s pinch-running specialist, David Lough, scored in the 12th on a wild pitch.

Three run home runs and grand slams are one thing, but to lose on a wild pitch really sucks.  Sox manager Robin Ventura probably hasn’t felt this beat up and embarrassed since he charged the mound against old-man, Nolan Ryan back in 1993….

Screw ’em.

But back to the Cruz grand slam.  With two down Cruz lifted the Birds on his back again and deposited a 2-1 Javy Guerra fastball over the right field wall.  So, so, clutch………

The O’s had been shut-out up to that point.  This O’s team has a definite ability to cause devastation with one swing of the bat .  It’s exciting as hell, babes.

Cruuuuuuz now has 24 home runs and 64 RBIs on the year.  MVP numbers for a guy that nobody else in baseball wanted to sign.  He’s a bargain at $8 million this season.  (Extension?)  (Please!)

Other Game Notes:

Cruz’s salami also bailed out starter Ubaldo Jimenez, who avoided his ninth loss when Cruz’s shot made its way over the fence.  Jimenez pitched pretty well, but he’s not pitching well enough and the guy gets zilch in terms of run support.  If he can start putting it together, the Birds have a real shot at this division.

Nick Markakis went an obscene 4 for 6. His single in the 12th put professional pinch runner, David Lough on third base.

Speaking of professional, professional hitter, Steve Pearce went 0 for 5.  That saddens me.

Hardy and Hundley had two hits a piece.  Hundley would become Lough in the 12th and Lough would become the winning run.  Wild pitch mania!

Next Up For the O’s:

We all get a day off today, babes.

Friday, let’s play two versus Tampa!

Game 1: Colome (0-0) vs Gausman (3-1)

Game 2: Odorizzi (3-7) vs Tillman (6-4)

Let’s Go O’s!
