The Spanish Fork Dons were beating the Maple Mountain Golden Eagles 14-11 with just 3.7 seconds left to play in a Utah 4A state play-in game. On 4th down, the Dons opted to try to run out the clock, instead of punting the ball back to the Golden Eagles. The play worked fine until the Dons’ quarterback forgot how the game clock works in football,¬†and made a colossal blunder to cost them the game and end their season.
