Hey Texas, When You Throw Meatballs, You Get Sauced. O’s Bash Rangers For Second Straight.

The Run Down

Texas starting pitcher, Nick Martinez, didn’t stand a chance last night.  Martinez was asked by Texas manager Ron Washington to take the bump and stop a Baltimore offense that had crushed four home runs on Monday night.  By the first inning it was quite evident he wasn’t up to the task.  Professional hitter, Steve Pearce, and Nelson Cruz left the Yard on Martinez in that first frame and the O’s never looked back, smashing their way to an 8-3 victory and taking the first two from Texas in this four game set.

Professional Hitter, Steve Peace’s, homer got reviewed and was upheld as it went off of Shin Soo Choo’s glove in the left field corner….

I’ll admit it, when I first heard that TJ McFarland was making a spot start for the Birds, I let out an audible groan.  But TJ shut me up with a solid, if unspectacular, five innings.  McFarland scattered seven hits over those five frames, allowing just two runs and striking out two.  It was a great start for a guy who doesn’t start and it helped the O’s out in a pinch.  Hats off to TJ.

Other Game Notes

Caleb Joseph added a two run shot of his own and had three RBIs total.

Jonathan Schoop was the only Bird to notch two hits last night.

Chris Davis went o-4 with a K and is now batting .205.  Is he becoming a glorified Mark Reynolds?  Ugh, c’mon Crush!

Professional hitter, Steve Pearce, has three homes runs in two nights against Texas.

Tommy Hunter, aided by a double play, pitched to only three batter in the seventh.

Next Up For The O’s

Same time, same teams at the Yard.

Mikolas (0-0) vs Tillman (7-4)

Mikolas just got called up from Round Rock and he has the eighth grade ‘stache workin’….
