Hey Terps, Don’t Overlook the Huskies

Maryland followed their week one cupcake blowout with a carbon copy stomping of ODU last week.   Stefon Diggs looked great again with 179 Yds Receiving and a TD flip into the end zone. All is great, as it should be, and now the Terps head North for their first road game which is scheduled against the University of Connecticut at 7:30 Saturday night. This should be another easy win for Maryland, right?

We just watched the Towson Tigers go up to UCONN and upset the Huskies a few weeks ago, so some of you may already be starting to write that W  onto your Maryland refrigerator magnet schedules. But not so fast. Connecticut hasn’t played since their home loss to Towson, and I’m sure they aren’t too happy about their opening performance. So while many of us have already started to look ahead   to tailgating at M&T Bank Stadium prior to the Terps/WVU matchup, let’s hope the team isn’t doing the same.

After the easy wins Maryland has recorded the last couple of weeks it’s easy to see how this road game could be overlooked. Players and fans both would love to be sitting at 3-0 when WVU comes to town, but you have to play the games one at a time. I don’t think head coach Randy Edsall will underestimate his former program, especially since the game probably has some extra meaning to him personally, but you never know.  I’m not the only one who thinks this game may be a close one either. The lines makers in Vegas have the Terps as about a 6-7 point favorite. There’s no doubt this game will be closer than the 30 plus point margin we saw last week. In fact, this is a nice road test for the Terps. Hopefully, they can keep their focus and come home with that W, but it probably won’t be the landslide victory that we’re becoming accustomed to.
