Here We Go Again…Terps Advance, Face Puke

It had to be the Dukies, didn’t it.  After finally playing well in a second half, the Terps earned the right to play the annoying and hated Blue Devils.  Maryland, led by Dez Wells and Pe’Shonn Howard, yes I said Pe’ Shonn Howard,  closed strong last night to defeat sorry ass Wake Forest and advance to the next round of the ACC Tournament.  The waters get deeper tonight as Coach K and his elitist snots await the Terps.  The Terps beat Duke the last time the two teams met, but that was within the friendly confines of The Comcast Center and Duke was without their latest great white hope, Ryan Kelly.  The game tonight will be in Greensboro, North Carolina, which of course amounts to a home game for the Blue Devils.   I mean why wouldn’t you play in Greensboro?  It has a population of a little over 200,00, and it’s a well-known entertainment hub.  When I think of a party I think of Greensboro!    God forbid the ACC host their tournament in Miami, or Boston, or Washington D.C., or Atlanta, or even Orlando.  No way, let’s keep it in North Carolina so all the UNC and Duke fans can remain within a safe driving distance.  It’s a definite advantage, but one the Terps have always had to deal with.  (They haven’t dealt with it well either, as evidenced by the fact that Maryland only won one ACC tournament during the Gary Williams glory years.)

"Incredible Downtown Greensboro, Or is That Towson?"

“Incredible Downtown Greensboro, Or is That Towson?”

But enough bitchin’ and back to basketball.  the Terps actually showed toughness and maturity down the stretch last night to pull away from Wake.  A huge opportunity awaits us now Terp fans, as a win over these  Duke jerks would put our beloved  University back onto the NCAA Tournament Bubble. It will be difficult to say the least.  Duke will have revenge on their mind, and Maryland needs to play their best game of the season.  Hopefully the Terps will stay within their strengths and play physical, hard-nosed, low post basketball.  If we go small and turn it over a million times, we’re doomed.  No way Duke lets the Terps overcome 20-plus turnovers again.  But there is a gleam of hope now for Maryland and the prospect of postseason play.  Let’s hope that our combined focused hatred can help carry our Boys forward into the Semi-Finals.
