Hanley Ramirez Bat Flipping A Bloop Single While Down Two Runs Is Peak Boston

Let’s put things into perspective here. The Red Sox are down two runs in the sixth, no one on base, and one out. Hanley Ramirez shoots a blooper over the second baseman into shallow right, anddddd he flips his bat. I understand he’s not having his best year offensively, but I’m pretty sure this might be the first bat flip celebrating a 6th inning single in the history of the Majors.

If someone on another team pulls that move, the Red Sox throw at them six times. But today Hanley’s a hero in Boston for his bat flip. Classic Red Sox state of mind. For the record, I really don’t have a huge problem with the flip in the name of #makebaseballfunagain, I just realize that if someone, say, Manny Machado, had pulled this move, it would be 99 mph from Chris Sale right in the hip.
