Grab Some Bohs and Hos, O’s Took Two Out of Three From the ‘Stros!

You gotta love a mid-week series win, especially one with a Thursday day game.  It means fans can relax tonight knowing the Birds are going into their important weekend series with Tampa on a high note.  I also feel like if you’re gonna win two out of three it’s better to win the rubber match instead of winning the first two and losing the final game,  simply because in the later instance you feel disappointed that you didn’t get the sweep, instead of just happy that you won the series.  It’s seems a small psychological edge to winning that last game moving forward, or maybe I’m just full of shit and overanalyzing.

The day game is also key because now I can watch Game One of the NBA finals without having to switch back and forth to the O’s game.  Life is good.  Break out the adult beverages and chicken wings.

Gonzo was on point.

Miguel Gonzalez gave the Birds the start they needed today.  Six innings pitched, one earned run, and seven K’s.  His last start was a mess, and even though that game was a game the Orioles eventually won, I was concerned about the young right-hander going into tonight.  Not to worry, Gonzo was brilliant in this 3-1 win, and he finally got his third win.  His record seemed stuck at 2-2 forever.

Chris Davis had two more hits.  Beast.

Adam Jones is in a mini-funk, but he had an RBI double today.  Hopefully this gets him going a little.

Chris Dickerson scored on a wild pitch, it was the second run of the series that scored without being batted in.  Mclouth scored on a throwing error after a steal of third base in the first game.

C.D also makes sick catches.

The ninth got a little shady with a rare error from Flaherty at second base and then Jim Johnson hit a batter on an 0-2 pitch.  Thankfully, Johnson got the game ending double play on the next batter to end the threat and the game.

Big fucking hurricane permitting, they’ll do it tomorrow in Tampa.

Hammel (7-3) vs Archer (0-1)

Go O’s!
