Get Pumped For The Upcoming All-Star Festivities With These Throwback Orioles Highlights

Tonight, Manny Machado will try to join Cal Ripken, Jr. (’91) and Miguel Tejada (’04) as the only Orioles to ever win the Home Run Derby. If Manny does emerge victorious, the Orioles will be in a six-way tie for the most Derby winners of all-time. He’d also bring home a big payday for Machado backers, as the 3rd baseman is by far the biggest underdog in the field at +800. With those juicy odds, it sounds like I better find my swimming trunks.

Tomorrow night, Machado will join Adam Jones, Zach Britton, and Darren O’Day as the Orioles’ representatives in the Midsummer Classic. The O’s have had six All-Star Game MVPs, which is the most of any franchise. Brooks Robinson in ’66, Frank Robinson in ’71, Ripken in ’91 and ’01, Roberto Alomar in ’98, and Tejada in ’05 all earned MVP honors. With the All-Star events starting tonight and the Birds’ proud history in these contests, I thought it’d be a perfect time for a stroll down memory lane. Without further ado, here’s a smorgasbord of Oriole-related highlights from past All-Star festivities. Enjoy, babes.
