The Orioles took game 1 of Friday’s double header against the Yanks on a walk-off double by Jimmy Paredes with two outs in the bottom of the 11th. The game was tied 0-0 going into the 11th inning, following beautiful starts by both Kevin Gausman and Brandon McCarthy, who matched each other pitch-for-pitch through 7 innings. Both teams’ bullpens carried the load from there, with each team’s ‘pen giving 3 scoreless innings. A solo shot off the bat of Yankee’s left fielder Chris Young with two outs in the top of the 11th off of reliever Brad Brach was the first run of the game. The Orioles responded with two runs of their own to win game 1.

Game Notes:

Brad Brach picked up the win to improve to 7-1, despite allowing the only Yankee’s run.

Jimmy Paredes is batting .323 since joining the O’s.

Including the postseason, this was the 5,000 win in Orioles’ history.

The Orioles are now 14-5 in extra innings this year.
