Fat-Ass Ortiz Homers In Extras; Orioles Blow It, Lose 5-3

The Orioles have already clinched the AL East, but this final stretch of games is not meaningless, as the O’s still have a chance to catch the Angels for home field advantage throughout the playoffs. Gausman put together a decent outing, going 5 innings and allowing three runs, two of which earned. The bullpen went four innings of scoreless baseball before O’Day allowed a two run homer to David Ortiz in the top of the tenth inning. O’Day hasn’t been quite as sharp in his last few outings, allowing two homers this week. Orioles’ fielding looked poor, committing 3 errors. They managed 10 hits, but only drove in three runs. Despite the fact that the O’s, lead by the bat of pinch hitter Delmon Young, came back from a 3-1 deficit in the 7th, they left a lot to be desired with tonight’s game.

Other Game Notes:

The Orioles still have a chance at winning 100 games, but would have to finish 8-1 the rest of the way. Good thing the competition’s not exactly stellar from here on out.

Evan Meek actually pitched a scoreless inning.

Andrew Miller pitched one inning, and of course did not allow a run, and continues to be the man.

Ortiz is still fat.
