Chodes College Picks: Week 15

Featured, Sports and Bets — December 4, 2014 at 11:42 pm by

I have managed to edge out to a 20-15 record on the season. Before the bowl games get here we still have the very good, and very bet-able, conference championship games this weekend. Lets pick a few winners to pad the wallet so we can really get after the bowl games. Here we go.

Pac 12 Conference Championship

Friday Night 9PM  FOX

*Neutral Location

#7 Arizona Vs.  #2 Oregon

Line: Oregon -14.5

Chode’s Pick: Oregon

I don’t often take favorites, but when I do, I take the Oregon Ducks. This isn’t the first time I have laid a lot of points with the Ducks this year, and it worked out last time. This also isn’t the first time these two teams have played each other this season. Oregon’s only loss this year was, in fact, at home in Eugene, Oregon to these same Arizona Wildcats. But not only is this a conference championship game with national playoff implications, it is also a REVENGE game. There is nothing I like more than a revenge game. Heisman hopeful Marcus Mariota and the Oregon offense blow the doors off the Wildcats Friday Night.

SEC Championship

Saturday 4PM CBS

*Neutral Location

#1 Alabama vs. #16 Missouri

Line: Alabama -14.5

Chode’s Pick: Bama

Missouri is playing in their second straight SEC championship game, and that really is great for them. But Nick Saban and the Crimson Tide are ranked number 1 in the nation for a reason, and they are going to leave no doubt about it Saturday afternoon. Missouri is a good football team, but they did lose a home game to Indiana. Everyone makes mistakes, but Bama ain’t Indiana. Roll Damn Tide!!!

ACC Championship

Saturday 8PM ABC

*Neutral Location

#4 Florida State Vs. #11 Georgia Tech

Line: FSU -4

Chode’s Pick: Georgia Tech

Over the last two weeks the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets have first knocked off the Clemson Tigers, and then the Georgia Bulldogs in a fantastic overtime finish. The Yellow Jackets and their triple option offense will create some problems for Florida State just as it did Clemson and Georgia. While Florida State has won 28 straight games, they just don’t look that impressive as of late. I like Tech to win straight up and ruin the Seminoles’ hopes of a repeat National Championship. If Florida State does win, look for it to be a last second field goal where they fail to cover the spread.
