Chode’s College Football Picks: Week 8

Featured, Sports and Bets — October 17, 2014 at 6:08 am by

Another 3-1 week, and that’s how the Chode rolls! After back to back 3-1 weeks, we’re finally getting ahead of this thing. Now sitting at 10-7 on the season, it’s time to just keep on, keepin’ on.

Game 1: #8 Michigan State @ Indiana        3:30 PM  ESPN

Line: Mich State -16.5

Chode’s Pick: Indiana

Indiana has been an up and down team this season. Sure they went on the road and beat Missouri, but then they let the Terps blow them out in Indiana. I think the good version of the Hoosiers shows up, and they do enough to cover the line.

Game 2:   Georgia Tech @ UNC   7 PM ESPNU

Line: GA Tech -1.5

Chode’s Pick: UNC

UNC is on a four game losing streak. But what’s important to note is that the four teams they have lost to during that stretch are East Carolina, Clemson, Virginia Tech, and Notre Dame. That’s pretty high-level competition. Georgia Tech may be 5-1, but they are coming off of a tough ACC loss to Duke. I think Carolina stops the skid, and they win at home Saturday night.

Game 3:  Washington @ #9 Oregon   8 PM FOX

Line: Oregon -20.5

Chode’s Pick: Oregon.
For a guy who loves underdogs this is without a doubt the largest favorite I have ever taken in the history of Charm City Wire. Both Pac 12 North teams have a record of 5-1. So it may sound crazy (especially for me) to essentially lay 3 touchdowns in a division game. The Oregon Ducks blew it against Arizona, and I get that. But let’s not forget about them handling #7 Michigan State or #18 UCLA. Ducks Roll, Gordon Bombay style….Quack, Quack, Quack.
