Chode’s College Football Picks: Week 5

Last week, Bounce Back Saturday didn’t move the needle much in either direction. Treading water at 1-1 last week, and 6-5 on the season, there is no time like now to get hot. Here goes my best shot at a prime-time, two-pack of winners.

1. Missouri @ #13 South Carolina      7PM

Line: South Carolina -6

Chode’s Pick: MISSOURI

South Carolina took a beating in their first game of the season from a good Texas A&M team. Then a few weeks later, the Cocks beat an even better Georgia team. Which version of Carolina shows up this week? We can’t be sure. But you can be sure that Missouri is pissed off after losing to Indiana a week ago, and they are going to take that anger out on the Game Cocks. I like the Missouri Tigers to win this SEC showdown.

2. #8 Notre Dame Vs. Syracuse           *Neutral location 8PM

Line: Notre Dame -13

Chode’s Pick: Syracuse

I know Terps’ fans saw Maryland beat the Syracuse Orange last Saturday and are thinking Chode’s losing it again. Don’t. Syracuse is actually better than you might think, and that was a solid win for the Terps. Notre Dame, per usual, are being over hyped because they are Notre Dame. The Irish have beaten an awful Michigan team, Rice, and Purdue. They are only ranked in the top ten because they have shamrocks on their jerseys.  Syracuse may not win straight up, but this one will be close.
