Buck Wins Top Boss Award Because He Is.

Buck Showalter won the 2014. A.L Manager of The Year Award.  It’s his third time winning the honor, his first as an Oriole.  In my extremely not so humble opinion, Buck should win this award every damn year he wears the Black and Orange, because Buck is a miracle worker.  The minute he stepped foot in the Warehouse, things done changed for the Baltimore Orioles. The attitude changed, the culture changed, and the winning started.  Showalter is 377-328 in roughly four and a half seasons as Orioles’ manager. The Birds have made the playoffs twice during his tenure. Before he arrived, the O’s hadn’t had a winning season since 1997 and were usually eliminated from playoff contention sometime in May.  Now the Orioles are perennial contenders who are expected to win.

This year the O’s went 96-66 and ran away with the American League East.  And they did so despite losing diamond studs Matt Wieters and Manny Machado to injury and despite first baseman Chris Davis being suspended for 25 games.  Showalter also was masterful with his bullpen and his defensive mindset has become a way of life at Camden Yards.

Buck is famous for saying, “I like our guys,” when referring to the Orioles’ chances of holding up to the grind and winning ball games over the long and strenuous Major League Baseball season.  Well Buck, you should like your guys, because you consistently mold them into winners. And right back at ya from the fans Buck, but we don’t just like you around here, we love the hell out of ya.

Congrats, Skip, nobody has ever deserved this honor more than you do today.
