Gonzo was on point tonight

Gonzo was on point tonight

It’s been a tale of two forecast so far in this three game set with the Angels.  Last night was a torrential downpour and tonight was the perfect night for a ballgame.  But beyond the raindrops and summer breezes, the first two games have really been all about the starting pitching.  Freddy got the job done Monday night and tonight Miguel Gonzalez pitched his ass off in the Orioles’ 3-2 win.  Eight innings, four hits, five K’s, and only one earned run allowed, I only wish Buck would have let him go the distance.  Gonzo’s lady is expecting at any moment, so maybe that was added motivation to get the hell out of Camden Yards as fast as possible.

I know Buck always gets a pass in this town, but why not leave Gonzo in to start the ninth?  He was under 100 pitches on the night and cruising.  Johnson almost gave it away.

That’s right Jim Johnson was giving out heart attacks again as he let the Angels get within one, though he did strike out Mark Trumbo looking to end the game.  I get the damn yips every time he walks to the mound.

The bottom of the seventh was a crazy inning, in a good way, for the Birds.  With two outs the Orioles mustered 3 straight infield hits to finally chase starter Jason Vargas.  Nick Markakis  then knocked home two with a base hit to right center.  Can’t remember seeing three straight infield hits with two down.  Vargas has got to be pretty bitter tonight.reed

Is it a Baltimore coincidence that Orioles’ slugger Chris Davis has been stuck on 20 (Ed Reed) home runs, and 52 (Ray Lewis) RBIs for this long?  Probably, but this is the dumb fucking shit I think about on a daily basis.

Ryan Flaherty had (gasp) two hits tonight.

'Where the fuck is my gold-plated walker!?"

‘Where the fuck is my gold-plated walker!?”

Albert Pujols and Josh Hamilton are in contracts that will pay them a combined $363 million.  Hamilton is batting .216 and Pujols can barely run around the bases without a fucking walker.  Hamilton will probably turn it around, but I sure as shit wouldn’t want to be paying Albert for 8 more years….Yikes.

Birds go for the sweep tomorrow.  Kick ’em when their down babes.

Williams (4-2) vs Hammel (7-4)

Let’s Go O’s!
