The Run Down

Boom, babes.  The Orioles slaughtered the Yankees last night at Camden Yards, 11-3, to reach the .500 mark for the first time since May 5th.  The win also brought the O’s within three games of first place.  Chris Davis paced the good-guys with three hits, including an Earl Weaver, and four RBIs. Life is good when Crush is on point at the Yard……

That knock put the O’s up 5-1.  They would never look back.  Every starter for the Orange and Black had a hit in the 16 hit onslaught.  Jimmy Paredes also had three hits and he joined Davis in the multiple RBI department.  (He had two driven in.)

The game didn’t start all cookies, kisses, and hugs for the Birds.  Baltimore starter, Ubaldo Jimenez gave up two singles to start the game and he walked A-Rod to load the bases.  But somehow Ubaldo got out of his early evening jam with no damage, and in the bottom of the frame, Davis scored Machado with a single.  The momentum was now officially in Baltimore’s favor, and it remained with the Birds all night.

Other Game Notes

Yankees starter Michael Pineda was a disaster, lasting just 4.1 frames and allowing five runs on nine hits.  Sucks to suck, bro.

Yankee third baseman Chase Headley got crunched in the nuts with a Manny Machado grounder in the third.  Headley left the game in the fifth.  Ouch, babes.

Caleb Joseph went 3-4 with a home run.

Ubaldo only went five innings to get the win.  The bullpen tossed four innings of 3-hit, no-run baseball.

Manny Machado had two hits, a walk, and he scored three runs.  He is now batting .278 with an OBP of .332.
