Beast-Mode

You could feel it at the Yard yesterday.  When Chris Davis stepped up to the plate in the bottom of the eighth with the bases chris-davis-orioles loaded and the score tied 5-5, you could feel the confidence.  Every fan in Camden Yards knew that Davis would deliver, and oh babes did he ever.  His grand-slam lifted the Birds past the Twins and put Davis into the record books.  No player has produced more RBIs in the first four games of a season than Davis (16, the previous record was 12.)  Davis is on a prolific tear and has lead the Orioles to a 3-1 start.

Davis’ teammates call him Lou Ferrigno due to his slight resemblance of the old school body builder and actor.  The Orioles’ radio announcers have carried this further and are referring to Davis as the Incredible Hulk.  Is this a compliment?  You be the judge.lou-ferrigno-as-the-hulk-2

When Davis stepped to the plate with the bases loaded the feeling in the stadium was reminiscent of the feeling in old Memorial Stadium when Eddie Murray would come to the dish. Nobody was more clutch than ol’ Eddie Murray.   I still get chills thinking of those old EDDIE-EDDIE-EDDIE chants.

Davis’ ridiculous production has overshadowed Adam Jones’ great start.  Jones has 8 hits, 3 doubles, 4 RBIs and is batting .526 to start the season.

Mr. Shakes, aka, Jake Arrieta seemed to have good stuff yesterday but still got knocked around, allowing 5 earned runs.  It seems he lacks confidence in his fastball in tough situations.  Hopefully he can get it to all click soon because the talent and work ethic seem to be there.

Camden Yards was off the chain yesterday.  The crowd was loud and fun.  It’d be great to see another sell-out tonight.

Go O’s!
