On Saturday night, Baltimore native, Gervonta Davis dethroned Jose Pedraza by way of TKO, becoming the new IBF Jr. Lightweight World Champion.
Baltimore! my people I couldn’t did it without y’all…I was not alone last night…I felt the love. THANK YOU!

BoxingJunkie Davis (17-0, 16 KOs) was a ball of energy from the opening bell and never let up. Not even for a second. He never let Jose Pedraza breathe, and it finally paid off when he landed a clean right hook in Round 7 that ensured Davis would realize his dream. He was now world champion after Pedraza beat referee Ricky Gonzalez’s count but was on unsteady legs. The all-action tilt was all over at 2:36 of Round 7.
Under the promotion of Floyd Mayweather, we can expect an interesting future for Gervonta.

Davis is a product of the Upton Boxing Center, and prior to the fight, Uproxx took a look at how Gervonta found himself fighting for a championship. Take a look.
