ATLANTIC CITY, N.J. (AP) — A law enforcement official says he sent a video of Ray Rice punching his then-fiancee to an NFL executive three months ago, while league officers have insisted they didn’t see the violent images until this week. The person played The Associated Press a 12-second voicemail from an NFL office number on April 9 confirming the video arrived. A female voice expresses thanks and says: “You’re right. It’s terrible.”

Well, there ya go. Goodell saw the tape back in April, and somehow thought that the savage beating that Rice gave his then-fiancee was worth a lousy two-game suspension. Once the video was shown to the public, Goodell denied seeing it to try to cover his ass. I guess he thought that it was better to feign ignorance than to admit to being a fucking moron. Now the shit is going to hit the fan, and I don’t see how he should be able to keep his job after this. Of course, the NFL is already claiming that this isn’t true, releasing the following statement:

“We have no knowledge of this. We are not aware of anyone in our office who possessed or saw the video before it was made public on Monday. We will look into it.”

I’m sure as hell not buying that. How can we possibly believe the NFL after they have botched this whole situation so terribly since jump street? It’s been one colossal fuck-up after another from Goodell. We need this inept sleazeball outta office, and we need it now.
