Alex “No Big Deal” Honnold Scales A 2,500 Foot Cliff Like It’s No Big Deal.

So this guy is fucking nuts, but he scales a hell of a mountain.  El Sendero Luminoso.  Mexico.  2,500 feet of sheer cliff.  No rope.  Free solo.  Just Alex and the mountain.

This happened on January 15th.  North Face has been releasing bits and pieces of the climb ever since.  They recently released this “full- length” video of the climb. (It’s only 6 minutes.)

So this dude is one death-defying moment after the other.  The reason I think I’m so impressed is that he just flat-out conquers these mountains on his own, no need for ropes and tools. It’s unbelievably impressive.  But you have to think that one day this climbing hobby of his will ultimately lead to his demise.  But for now, free climbing impossible rocks is relaxing to Mr. Honnold.  Meanwhile, just watching this video put my nuts in my stomach and my throat in my ass.  Enjoy.
