It was bombs away tonight down at the Yard as the Orioles ambushed the Blue Jays 8-5.  Chris Davis hit his 35th home run tonight in the second inning.  That tied the game and gave Davis a ridiculous 88 RBIs on the year.  But the black and orange fireworks were far from over.  Adam Jones and JJ Hardy (I called the Hardy shot, I freakin’ swear) both knocked Earl Weavers over the Yard wall and the Birds cruised from there, getting back to ten games over .500 and beating the same team that had swept them just two weeks ago in one fell swoop.  The Orioles have now run three straight.

A big reason for this little winning streak has been the starting pitching.  Tonight Tillman was good, giving up three earned over six to earn his eleventh win.  The previous two nights Chen and Gonzo were spectacular in their starts, with both pitchers throwing past the sixth inning.  Chen’s coming back has really solidified the top of this rotation.

Adam Jones had an incredible assist to gun down J.P Arencibia at second base.  It was a spin and throw from Jones who had cut the ball off in the gap.  Cannon.

The Orioles were out hit 14 to 9 but still prevailed.

Jim Johnson came in for a one pitch save after Tommy Hunter allowed a two run double in the ninth.  A LOT of folks have been calling for Tommy to close, including myself on occasion.  Irony can be a motherfucker sometimes.

Interesting stat of the night.  Since June 29th, the Orioles bullpen leads the league in reliever ERA.

Brian Roberts led off tonight for the first time all year, he went 0-4.

Big crowd at the Yard tonight, let’s make it happen again Saturday at 4:05.

Redmond (1-1) vs Hammel (7-5)

Let’s Go O’s!
